I planted aronia 2 years ago and have the first real “harvest” this year. Three full bunches which equals maybe a cup!? Patience. I’m eager to have a bushfull which will come in time. I know they’re *beyond* tart (have tasted!) which is ok with me; it’s nice to see I’m in good company ?

When my grandkids aren’t looking, I add spinach and kale! The beautiful pink/purple color is so pleasing, they don’t realize it’s also packed with nutrients!

You can also indurate the whole berry and use it in baked goods and smoothies that way.

They are small berries, and not easily pitted which is why I’ve just always cooked them and then ran them thru cheesecloth leaving just the juice and no pulp.
I’d love to know how to pit them.

I find the berries so astringent, there’s nothing that make them taste good. The birds won’t even touch them! The best I could do was to juice them, freeze it, and then add a small amount to a smoothie. It was hardly worth it. I’m curious to see what others think of them.
