Thanks for your comment! If you look around at Katie’s articles on the website (and other podcast episodes) on meat, saturated fats, protein, and cholesterol you’ll find she has different views than conventional dietary advice. Glad you’re enjoying the podcast 🙂

My concern with this episode was the small part at the beginning of nutrition stating “protein is king.” This seems to give a mis information and incorrect interpretation of nutrition needs. I am a registered dietitian so my concern of “protein is king” statement is giving hype to we need more protein than other foods, but we dont. We need only 20% protein per day then 30% fats and 50% carbs. I agree have protein at each meal but that also doesnt mean meat like you had offhand mentioned. It could mean dairy eggs beans nuts etc. So i think when talking about nutrition be careful. Because i would say fruits and veggies are the most important because we need more of those than anything else.
More meat is actually one of the primary concerns with meals because it is so much higher in saturated fats which is causing heart disease and high cholesterol which is growing in our young boys.
Im sad the doctor perpetrated such an over simplified view and i feel like this was not a good example to give to moms for kids.
